Airpol G screw compressors are designed to operate in underground coal workings endangered by methane and coal dust explosion. Special design of the devices allows to use them in areas with “a”, “b” or “c” degree of methane explosion hazard and “A” or “B” class of coal dust explosion hazard.
Airpol G compressors are designed for local supply of air driven devices, pipelines of compressed air systems, as well as for air and water sprinkling systems used in mining combines. Airpol G series screw compressors have capacities from 60 to 1110 m3/h with motor powers from 11 to 110 kW. The compressors’ design, workmanship, safety and regulation methods comply with the requirements of the EU 94/9/EC directives. All compressors have the relevant ATEX approval issued by the OBAC Certification Body.

Airpol G compressors are high-quality units that provide an excellent and safe source of compressed air in underground workings endangered by methane explosions. Meeting safety requirements is ensured by the compliance of the devices with the PN-EN 60079-0:2013, PN-EN 60079-1:2014, PN-EN 60079-11:2012, PN-EN 1127-1:2011, PN-EN 1127-2:2014, PN-EN 13463-1:2010, PN-EN 13463-5:2012 standards. The compressors have a specially designed and reinforced casing made of steel sheet, which guarantees high tightness and soundproofing, ensuring that the compressor operates safely for the environment. A welded frame on which all assemblies are placed and additional handles enable transport of the compressor, both suspended and by dragging it along the ground. When designing the compressor, such dimensions were taken into account that the compressor could be transported in mine galleries.

The oil and air cooler module is a unit bolted to the outside of the compressor casing which enables separate transport to the installation site and facilitates cleaning the cooler system.
To facilitate service and maintenance of the compressor, all maintenance operations are performed by opening the door located on one side of the casing. This eliminates the need to access the compressor from all sides.

Specification for Airpol G series screw compressors for mining operations:

  • Air cooling or additional water cooler (heat exchanger – option).
  • Fully automatic operation, overload and overheat protection, air filter contamination indicator (oil filter, oil separator cartridge – design option). It is possible to connect the compressor to the mine’s data transmission system to the surface.
  • As a standard, the compressors are equipped with a flame-proof contactor switch located outside the soundproof casing. It is also possible to connect the compressor with the mine contactor switch.
  • Two systems are used to control the compressor capacity: electric and pneumatic. The compressor may use both systems simultaneously (design option) or use only one.
  • As additional equipment, an Airpol G series screw compressor can be equipped with the following devices:
    • automatic self-extinguishing line,
    • additional water cooling by means of a water/oil heat exchanger.
